Dr. Dunbar firmly believes that the medical system is more focused on identifying disease, and prescribing the right pill, rather than focusing on prevention, health and wellness. It is well documented that chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol are all modifiable and in most cases acquired because of unhealthy nutrition and obesity which in turn leads to inactivity.
If we take a 45 year old female with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and a BMI of 45 they have a 22% risk of having a stroke or heart attack in 10 years. If that same 45 year old female now had a BMI of 20 and as a result no longer had type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol she now has a 0.3% risk in 10 years.
Which 45 year old do you want to be?
