Healthy Aging Our inaugural @walkwithadoc went better than I expected!! A wonderful opportunity to walk with friends, family, patients and colleagues. In honor of healthy aging month we discussed tips for how to change our outlook and age without feeling old. Interestingly, tips on healthy aging are universal and applicable regardless of age. Exercise walk, bike, swim – start with what you’re willing to do do a minimum of 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise 5 days a week Smile often it’s contagious Live with gratitude indulge in and focus on the positive experiences and events in life celebrate your many blessings Be fearless start a new hobby – music, painting, knitting, woodworking Eat close to the ground nutrient rich foods – fruits, vegetables and whole-grains Get enough sleep 7-9 hours/night Foster relationships meet for coffee, lunch or dinner volunteer Prevention stay current on with your annual physicals and health maintenance (https://healthfinder.gov/myHealthfinder/) Join me at Ridges Specialty Care Center in Burnsville, MN the 1st Saturday of every month for a free health talk .
