FAQs

Why Direct Primary Care?

  • What is a direct primary care (DPC) model, and how is it different from regular insurance-based care?
Our direct primary care membership model provides personalized service and quality time with your doctor without insurance hassles. You get complete open access and care coordination from Dr. Dunbar for an affordable monthly fee instead of brief visits dictated by insurance limitations. We can focus on true preventative care and long-term health versus only acute issues.
  • Do I still need health insurance if I join your practice?
Yes, we recommend members maintain insurance to cover emergencies, hospitalizations, and specialty care. Please think of us as your primary health home through convenient appointments, health coaching, discount health services, and more!
  • How does the membership pricing work - is it a monthly fee? What exactly does my fee cover?
Yes, our direct-to-patient memberships start at $100/month per individual. This includes open access to your doctor, expanded visits, group-based health coaching, in-office procedures, and preventative care for chronic issues. Nothing is out-of-pocket, so you can focus on health—not hassles!
  • Do you accept insurance, or can I submit claims for reimbursement since I've already paid my membership dues?
Currently, we do not accept insurance directly or submit claims on a member's behalf. However, some plans may rebate a percentage, depending on policy provisions. We are unable to help with claim submissions in order to provide a high level of care at an affordable and transparent price.
  • What about Medicare?
At this time Dr. Dunbar is unable to see patients that are covered by Medicare. Unfortunately, Medicare has severe restrictions regarding DPC practices that limit our ability to provide the best care possible. In order for Medicare patients to become members of Saravit Direct Health, Dr. Dunbar must “opt out” of Medicare. We anticipate being able to care for Medicare patients in the future and at that time patients will need to sign a separate agreement saying they will not seek reimbursement from Medicare for the services we provide. If you would like to be notified when we are accepting Medicare patients please text “I have Medicare but want to join your practice to 612-486-2183.
  • How soon can I become a new member, and are memberships offered month to month, or do they require a contract?
We make it easy to become part of our direct care family! If interested, you can enroll here and get set up with automated payments from the comfort of your home. All memberships renew monthly - no long-term commitments are required as we aim to earn your continued investment each day! Let's connect here for a 15-minute meet and greet with Dr. Dunbar!
  • Why would I pay extra for healthcare when I already have health insurance?
Unfortunately, having health insurance does not mean you have healthcare. The current insurance driven healthcare system includes unexpected fees, high copays, deductibles and exclusion of services. It also means waiting months to see your doctor, only to have 10 minutes with them and then to be rushed out the door. At Saravit Direct Health, It’s like having a physician in the family! Direct, unrestricted access, to your doctor for your annual wellness visit, any sick or urgent care needs, letters for work or just to ask a quick question. No hassle with co-pays, having to wait days for a response or months to be seen. Just pick up your phone and text - it’s that simple!
  • I don’t go to the doctor often. Why would I need a membership?
We believe that everyone benefits from expert preventative primary care. Having a doctor that is accessible, and who knows you and your goals, means you can be proactive and avoid bigger problems that down the road could lead to an urgent care or emergency room visit. Plus, when that surprise urinary tract infection or unexpected issue comes up, you have direct hassle-free access to your physician.
